Apparently, there’s a song in the movie Vanilla Sky called “All the Right Friends” by R.E.M. which bears more than a little resemblance to Elec Man’s stage music from Mega Man 1. I have to admit I really don’t know what to make of this, whether someone at Capcom really likes R.E.M. or it’s just some sort of bizarre coincidence, but here you go.

Note: To make the obvious painfully clear, when I say “someone at Capcom likes R.E.M.” I am implying that Capcom borrowed the tune from R.E.M., not the other way around. I have no idea why everyone got the impression I was saying the complete opposite of what I said, but as near as I can tell this song was released long before Rockman 1 was ever made, so if anyone did any conscious borrowing it had to have been on Capcom’s side. You all can stop mailing me about it now, thanks.
